At the end of the 2002 season, the Haunted House at Alton Towers became Duel. With the changes that took place, some of the original sound-effects also went. Below, some on-ride recordings of the Haunted House during it's last season along with some brief descriptions may bring back some fond memories.

There are two shouts are from the two monsters who swooped out during the ballroom. You then hear some crashing rubble sounds,which was where a piece of the wall swung out of the way before your car hit it. You then hear the music change as we enter the Trommel. | |

Lit up by strobes, these faces were imbeded in the walls and also flew around above riders heads emitting these screams. | |

These jellyfish flew around you during the spider scene. Their loud piercing screams accompanied with timed strobe lights frequently caught riders off-guard. | |

To take your picture in later seasons, a skeleton dropped from the roof to catch your attention as the flash-bulb went. This sound accompanied it. | |

In the Haunted House garden, this witch popped out from behind some curtains. | |

As you re-entered the station to leave, a dragon loomed towards you with the head of the previous rider still in it's mouth, still screaming in terror. It was a fitting end. |
