Back in the days when Butlins were considered as places where families might want to spend a holiday break, childrens entertainment was needed. Butlins has always been tacky, and the same went for "Wizzy's World" which was the kids play area and evening entertainment club thing. As well as rides and shows, there was much singing. On my holiday's, I manged to pick up a tape of "That Album", songs from Wizzy's World that as far as I can remember, were never used in the shows anyway. They certainly were not used at Bognor Regis.

As trends change, these songs have been updated to suit modern day audiences. Below are the lyrics from songs in the album.... They are not wonderful, you have been warned. But they are suitably tacky to remind us of those cold summer days in stinking chalets, where we were supposed to be on holiday.

1) WIZZY WORLD
An introduction to the album. Its not very remarkbale, but it sets the pace for the word "wizz" to be used gratuiously as a form of brainwashing. By the end of the tape, if you don't think that Wizzy World is the only place to be in life then the tape has failed. This is a nice bouncy and tuneful song and introduces us to the wierd blend of "rapping" and singing, that makes up every song no matter what sort of music it is trying to emulate.

An encouragement for kids to start bumping their rears against other kids said part of the anatomy. The track really isn't that bad - but it would have been fun to do it as part of the club! (All lyrics are sung with a bad Caribbean accent)

I can only guess that this track was a replica of the sudden burst of "house music". I don't know what House Music refers to, but I am sure that this is not it. This trash tries an alarming plan of trashing other pop stars so that kids believe that this song is the best. Interesting.

This one tries to teach us a dance, except that the instructions don't seem to make much sense, and you could eaily end up falling over. Perhaps that was the idea. Who knows! Again, there is more trashing on pop groups that were big hits at the time. Certainly makes me feel old!

8) Let's Help the Children
This is a hideously out of place song for a kids album, it's all about teaching kids to do good things and not turn to crime. It seems to presume that we are, or are going to one day be Parents, and is coaching us for the time. The lyrics sound sickening - and the tune is too, but isn't actually as bad to listen to as it might be - apart from some nice verses runied by some girl attempting to sing.

I never went to Butlins at Christmas - probably because I was worred that Father Christmas wouldn't know where to deliver my presents. For those who risked it however, they probably had the assorted joys of singing this song.
